1958 Hotel Playa Christmas card

This is an unusual Christmas card.
No snow, no sleigh ... ;-)

Postcards on the Internet

I found these postcards on websites dedicated to the sale to collectors.
To preserve the privacy of the authors of the writings I have deleted names and addresses.

1961
(This is rather a nice picture of my hotel from the other side of the bay. It is really a very nice place and we are delighted with it - I thought ... bathing this morning, but the sun was so nice and hot and the water rather cold - also I was wearing my most elegant bathing dress and prefered not to get it wet! We are having a lovely time. I hope you are ...  much love M.)

1962
same place
postcard from CardCow.com
This postcard is of a good quality, lithographed in four colours and spirit vanished dying to get home to a glass of water, a plate of chips and a pint. I will tell you of our holiday when I next see you. Signing of and peeling like a banana

Quietness, sun and crystal clear waters near the city of Palma de Mallorca

Today everything has changed.
My father in the 60's

This is my father, Bernat Frau, although guests knew him as "Bernardo."

They were great times for my father, a young waiter who took every second to learn not only their craft but also the lifestyle, culture and language of the hotel guests.

Many of the guests came to regard him as a friend.

I miss you.

This is a brochure of the hotel at the time of its opening near 1958.

1967 "Lisbon Lions" in Palma Nova

In 1967 the famous "Lisbon Lions" spent a few days at the Hotel Playa Palma Nova.

Willie Wallace signed this picture to my father and gave him one of the green shirts with the legend of europe champions embroidered on it that I still have.

Casually the next "Celtic convention", a reunion of a Celtic F.C. supporters, will take place this month (may 2012) in Santa Ponça, just a few kilometres of Palma Nova.

Sure to be a great meeting.
Best wishes
